Colour Me Beautiful
This is the name of a workshop I attended, courtesy of my church's women fellowship group (basically, the ladies in this group are in charge of organising stuff to make life more interesting for the women in church). And so, the event for September was this workshop, entitled 'Colour Me Beautiful'. It is actually a beauty-grooming course, catered to help ladies discover their 'seasons' and in this way, enable them to dress better to impress, attract and be presentable.
The speaker, Ms Hannie Hay was absolutely delightful as she briefed us through the concept of first impressions, colour coordination and body language. Being highly entertaining and amicable, she spoke to the 'woman' in all of us as she identified common perceptions and misconceptions, as well as stereotypes in the explanation of grooming and dressing. Tickled by her wry humour and comical antics, the ladies had a great laugh in addition to learning great grooming tips.
One of the key concepts in this workshop was 'seasons'. Apparently, in determining what colours are deemed flattering for an individual, we need to find his/her right season. The 4 seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter are essential in the selection of clothes for an individual and your particular season is determined by skin colour, skin undertones, hair, eyes etc. Once you find your 'season', you'll be able to choose colours that complement instead of dull your look and demeanor. Ladies generally have 2 seasons, eg. summer-winter or autumn-spring while gentlemen have one season. 'Season' is one main reason that causes an individual to receive comments like "You look really great in this colour" or "Hmm, you look a little pale today, are you feeling alright?" Thus, in this way, one can attract and look pleasing in the right colour or appear lackluster and tired in an unsuitable colour.
So, look out for that fitting colour the next time you go shopping :)
