Six Weird Things About Me

I've been tagged by Lai Lee

THE RULES: Each player of this game starts with the 'six weird things about you' blog post. People who get tagged need to write their own six weird things post and state the rules clearly. At the end of the post tag six more people and don’t forget to leave a comment on their blog to tell them they have been tagged and tell them to read your blog.

Heehee, been delaying publishing this post because been trying to crack my mind to think of the weird things that are so characteristically typical of moi. So, here goes...

1. Walk super fast even though my legs are short (heehee, my friends have likened me to a bulldozer, that paves the way and will run over anyone who stands in the way. Haha, especially during my Uni days, as I walked along the pathway, according to my friends, people would quickly stepped aside to let me pass! :P)

2. Have been regarded as a motherly figure. (maybe it's due to my naggy speeches, because i'll be reminding people to do this and do that and then go on about how doing certain things can benefit them etc. hey! i'm only in my early twenties and still happily single, not yet a mother!)

3. Prefer to drink plain water (especially alkaline water). (ok, basically most people like soft drinks but i really love drinking plain water, especially with reports that list the detrimental effects of soft drinks. Read my post "Soft drinks=Soft bones". With regards to alkaline water, you can check it out at my company's website http://www.kemptrading.com/)

4. Can't stand being in the sun. (haha, that's probably one main reason why i'm so fair. I have nothing against the sun and i do understand the perks of getting enough Vitamin D in the sun and the various benefits that the sun has to offer. Yet i'm also mindfully aware of the UVA and UVB rays from the sun that causes premature aging. So, i would rather appear 'auntie' by carrying an umbrella to shield me from its harmful rays :P)

5. Was once into drinking raw bittergourd juice during a stressful period in my life. (haha, yes, i really just put these baby-sized bittergourds and some water into the blender and drank the whole mixture. Kind of liked the bitter taste, to remind myself that chi de ku zhong ku fang wei ren shang ren)

6. Can eavesdrop & carry on a conversation at the same time. (heehee, once i was talking with one of my friends and yet i can also listen to another conversation at the next table. This skill comes in useful when you need to gather secret information :P)

OK, finally done...I tag Lindy, my sister, Priya, Cheryl, Sylvia and Amos!

Red Dot Museum

Red dot design museum is based at red dot Traffic, a creative hub located at Maxwell road.
"The red dot design museum in Singapore is the physical embodiment of the red dot design awards, an exclusive exhibition venue for red dot design award winners. It is here that products and brands communicate their design excellence and differentiate themselves from the mediocre. It also provides important orientation to businesses, design professionals consumers on what or who has the best design." (extracted from www.red-dot.sg)
Every 1st Saturday & Sunday of the month, there will be a MAAD (Market of Artists And Designers) bazaar held at the red dot design museum for the public. On display are creative art pieces and wares done by various artists & designers for viewing as well as for sale.
Piqued with curiousity and wanting to explore a different side of Singapore (other than its shopping malls), we (divina and yours truly) decided to venture a voyage into this artistic realm.
There were many tiny stalls that greeted us with its innovative and exquisite creations, ranging from one-of-a-kind handmade jewellery to create-your-own designer bags. There were also specially-designed T-shirts, ornaments and accessories, as well as (guess what?) cupcakes! Of course, there were also pieces of painting done on various materials such as wood or cloth and even copper-tooling art pieces displayed on the walls, which would act as a unique decorative piece in any home.
One stall that particularly caught my attention was this lady advertising "name poems", in which you just have to give her your name and she will create a poem based on your name right on the spot. She will then proceed to type out the poem using this old-fashioned typewriter and you just pay any amount for her work. Then there was portrait-sketching, which is quite common and usually one would get their portrait done by one artist. However, what is rather special about this skectching session was that you would have sit down for 10 minutes surrounded by a group of 8-10 artists who would proceed to sketch you based on their individual impression and you just have to pay for the one that you like.
Besides that, one of my personal favourites was colourfully-painted lampshades whose shape resembled biscuit tins (you know, the Khong Guan assorted biscuit tins that families would consume from) which really fascinated me, because something that was so everyday-simple could be turned into such a beautiful piece of artwork.
It was a real eye-opener for us as we soaked in all the aesthetic works done by these talented and creative artists and designers. All-in-all, we totally enjoyed ourselves, being surrounded by award-winning innovative works of designs in the museum in addition to the collective works of artistry produced by budding and accomplished artists and designers.

Donuts!

Yup! These are the donuts that have been much-talked about...
Many thanks to my sweet sister who went to batam for church camp and actually spent the money and took the trouble to bring back 2 dozens of these yummy-looking donuts!
Imagine my surprise and my shout of joy when i saw 2 big boxes containing these donuts (that people would have to queue for 3-6 hours at raffles place to get) and of course, the first thing was to take pictures of them before stuffing these tasty morsels into my big greedy mouth :P

Watching the third

June is like the month of blockbusters, in particular the third instalment of all the famous movie hits. Needless to say, yours truly went straight to the cinema to grab tickets for the much awaited Pirates 3 and Shrek 3.
The deep impression left on my mind after both shows was that I literally LOL & ROFL. (read: laughing out loud & rolling on the floor laughing, though not so literal for the 2nd expression).
Pirates 3 left me gasping for air, with its superb special effects and wonderful sense of comic timing. A memorable ROFL moment was the proposal scene amidst the maelstrom of fighting going on.
Shrek 3 was spot-on with its cliched jokes and humour, leaving one adequately satisfied yet wishing for a tad more creativity.
Looking for ways for to relax and laugh yourself to silliness? Proceed to the cinema :P

A Delightful Night of Fine Cuisine & Objet D'art

It was a indeed a delightful evening of fine cuisine and artistic talent at Parry View as our eyes were awed by the creative portraits around the place and our noses inspired by the wonderful aroma of food. The hosts, Kenneth and Shonna were most warm and kind to invite a most privileged group of us to their aesthetic home for a tantalizing home-cooked meal (which turns out to be a feast!)
The most talented chef and artist whipped up a meal worthy for a king as the table was brimming over with the bountiful amount of food, consisting of spaghetti, curry chicken, steamed promfret, stir-fried vegetables, beef stew and soya sauce chicken. All of the above were absolutely finger-licking good!
Besides that, as one's eyes roved around the house, the numerous pieces of art with its bold colours and striking lines presented a most charming and picturesque setting that captivated and left the audience enchanted by the talent of the artist.
It was a night of great smiles, great food, great art and great company!
