Bargain Buy! (yet again...)

Ok, once again...it's time for Aunty HEW's bargain buy segment :)
Yes, as you can all remember...previous session's bargain buy was on Breadtalk's bread (with voucher). So, this time, it's yet another food item (haha, don't we all love food?) and it's Cedele's pies because there's this mini outlet that opened at Parkway Parade's Cold Storage.
Anyway, was strolling along that area with my sister when i saw the bakery and knowing that there'll be some offers available at that time (note: go after 8pm), so I dragged my sis along to check it out. To my delight, muffins were "buy 2 get 1 free" and pies were "2 for $6"...ok, some background info 1st: muffins're 1 for $3.20 usually & pies're 1 for $5, depending on variety.
So, as you can see, it's extremely exciting to grab these great bargains (and i've been seriously wanting to try the shepherd's pie because it looks so delectable). So, i was all ready to grab my muffins and pies when all of a sudden, my sis whined, "Jie, i want this..." and pointed to some quiche* and a quick look at the price got me recoiling in shock. It was $10 for a whole piece of pie and i think about $2-3 for a slice. My immediate response was a firm "No." But the smart bakery lady had already heard my sis and she was quick to respond, "Our quiche are very good. I give you 50% discount."
50% discount?! My eyes probably widen at this moment as my brain went calculating the cost and benefits of this offer (and the quiche did look rather good). $5 for one whole big pie...what a bargain! So, the 'auntie' in me decided to strike while the iron is hot. "Ok!"
Finally, the real icing on the cake came as i made my payment, the sweet cashier guy gave me an additional 10% off my purchase because i used my UOB campus card. Hahaha, i was probably grinning from ear to ear.....what a great bargain! So, here's my bargain buy...

Mushroom Quiche

Shepherd's Pie

So, stay tuned for the next Aunty HEW's bargain buy!

P/S: Credit goes to my sis who made that whine to get the quiche or else we wouldn't have gotten it at such a great price, hehe! Thanks, sis!

December - Super alot of people's birthdays

It's the month of December...the month of giving...christmas presents...and birthday presents too...wow, strain on the wallet!
As I look at my calendar, the number of people whose birthdays are marked out seemed to fill almost every date...my oh my...why are there so many people born in December?! Or is it that it just so happens that the people I know are born in December...hmmm... Let me do a check: it takes 10 months to give birth to a baby, so for those born in December, they were probably produced in February? Hmm, what's so special about the month of February....erm, Chinese New Year? But people are usually super stressed and hectic during Chinese New Year, need to run around getting new things, spring-cleaning, baking goodies....nope, too busy to even think of producing babies. Or could it be that 14 February's Valentine's Day? Haha, oh well...
So, here am I, busy squeezing out brain juices to think of what to buy and trying my very best to recall the comments they've made regarding their likes and dislikes. Can you hear the churning of the brain juices? Hahaha ;P

Anyway, here's wishing all of my December-born friends a most happy & blessed birthday!!!

Enchanted....By "Enchanted"

Didn't plan to catch this movie because it seemed rather typical fairytale romance kind of story...or so I thought...
yet, was roped in by friends to go watch the movie and the events leading up to the watching of this movie was nothing less than dramatic, haha...drenched in the rain, scurrying from harbourfront to dobhy ghaut just to get seats, running along + up and down multiple steps of stairs in high heels etc.
But i digress.....to all reading this post, do go and catch the movie, because it's simply enchantingly fantastic! Definitely laughed till my sides hurt :) and yes, you'll adore the chipmunk!
So, enjoy an enchanted (plus hilarious) time with Enchanted...

It's December! My Oh My.....

It's december once again.....
Happy and wistful...because it's the end of the year.
The end of the year is a good time to slow down and reflect upon the past happenings in your life for the year and see if there's any areas to improve, be it in terms of work, family, health, finance and spiritual. Yet, the year-end's often filled with lots of hustle and bustle as people get busy with christmas shopping in midst of cracking their brains and checking their wallets with regards to what to buy and if there's enough cash to go round for everyone etc.
December may pass by real fast and before you know it, it will be January, the start of the next new year. Yet, during december, there's a tendency to be rather pensive, even amidst all the cheery christmas tunes and panicky present-buying, because it's almost like a month of reflection and you wonder if you could do better next year, especially for the things that you have set out to do this year but somehow didn't manage to complete.
