YAM July TNT @ Little India
Once again, it's time to blog about.....food!
This time, we went to a place called Gurkha Palace @ Little India for YAM's July TNT
It was nepalese-indian food for the night...
Here's what we had:
1) Kukhura Makk (Butter Chicken) 2) Chicken Tikka Masala 3) Aloo Paneer (Potatoes in Creamed Spinach)
4) Palak Paneer (Cottage Cheese in Creamed Spinach)
5) Chicken Briyani
6) Raita (fresh chopped veggies in natural yoghurt with spices)
7) Plain Naan
8) Garlic Naan
And we ate till we couldn't eat anymore. The food was tasty and the price is right. With four girls eating a total of 8 dishes, the bill came up to $50.05, which is about $12.50 per person! Worth every cent!
As the food comes with lots of sauce, it is best to dip the naan in the different sauces and savour the rich, creamy and aromatic flavour of each dish. As usual, the butter chicken was a delight, the chicken briyani was tasty with its well-flavoured chicken pieces, the cottage cheese was light and a tad chewy (kind of reminds one of tofu, but with more bite) and chicken tikka masala had a rich roasted taste that was enhanced by the spices and the potatoes in creamed spinach were well-seasoned with spices as well. A surprise was the raita (veggies in yoghurt). Decided to try that dish because the description on the menu sounded rather interesting and when it arrived in a tiny round bowl looking all white and pretty, we were somewhat hesitant to try it. Finally curiousity got the better of us and we tasted our first bite...it was...hmmm, somewhat unusual...as the natural yoghurt has a tangy sour taste which helped to lighten the heavy taste of the dishes we had. And each mouthful came with crunchy bits of vegetables such as cucumber, carrots, onions that had been finely chopped and mixed into the yoghurt with a tinge of spice. The raita would be an ideal appetizer as its tangy taste helps to whet one's appetite but it was great as an after-meal digestion-aid, as the yoghurt helps to take away the fullness one feels after the rich, heavy spice-loaded dishes we had.
All in all, we had a great time gobbling and giggling away =)

My stomach growls.
My head spins with jealousy.
My palm catches a drop of saliva on the way down to meet my tshirt.
